Should Canelo fans be concerned ?
Updated: Apr 29, 2019

We’re only six days away from the big fight between Saul ”Canelo” Alvarez and Daniel ”Miracle Man” Jacobs in Las Vegas, Nevada. Saul ”Canleo” Alvarez's WBA and WBC middleweight titles are on the line against Daniel ”Miracle Man” Jacobs' IBF championship. Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs Daniel Jacobs fight will take place on Saturday, May 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. I for one couldn’t be anymore more excited. A unifying title match between two of the best in boxing today. The best fighting the best. We fight fans should be excited, right ? Still most fight fans see this fight as just another inevitable win for Canelo. Shouldn't Canelo fans be a little more concerned? Could Jacobs actually pull off the major upset?
While Canelo looked truly amazing in his last instant classic against GGG in their action-packed rematch. Jacobs is a totally different fighter than GGG. Can Canelo have the same success against, Jacobs? Absolutely. That said, the strategy for Canelo will have to be much different In this fight. GGG comes forward and doesn't use much lateral movement while working off his powerful jab. Jacobs is constantly changing his approach and strategies throughout the fight.
Jacobs can also switch up stances in the middle of the fight with little to no effort. Jacobs also has a three and a half inch height advantage and three-inch reach advantage over Canelo, and his ability to use these physical advantages to keep the ferocious warrior from Guadalajara,Mexico at a comfortable distance are critical. These are all likely to be key factors in the outcome of the fight Saturday night. Jacobs is known as a really heavy hitter with excellent speed, so it would be no great surprise were he to go all out on the offensive attack truly pressing+
the action early and often.
While Canelo is currently the clear betting favorite to win at 2/5, and Jacobs the underdog at 15/8. As I definitely agree, Canelo should be the betting favorite. I see it being a close fight going in Canelo's favor winning a razor close split decision by maybe 1 or 2 rounds.
Still they don't call Daniel Jacobs the ”Miracle Man” for nothing. Anything can happen in boxing especially when you’re dealing a true champion that’s already faced so much adversity in their life inside and outside of the ring. This would be a truly career defining moment for, Jacobs. Will Jacobs seize the moment ? Will Canelo continue to show us why he's so special ? We'll find out on Saturday. Can't wait !
